fiercely up the stream

they're messin' with
our dream.

Six Months Later...

I've been working nearly full-time on Million Dollar Cinema for six months and things have come quite far. While I keep tweaking things here and there, there's little left to do than select the remaining 13 titles.

Since 17 of 30 films have been selected with 7 months remaining until film 30, there is time to take a little break and consider more documentaries.

In the mean time, I've started a new project, something I'm very excited about that's much more ambitious than MDC (if you can believe it). If all goes well, perhaps this new project will bring a larger audience to the Cinema.

Please continue sending film suggestions and any other ideas.

I'll be annoucing the new site here when it's ready.

Million Dollar Cinema Theme Song

Row, row, row your boat
fiercely up the stream.
Verily, verily, verily verily,
they're messing with our dream.

New addition

I added Decoding The Past: The Templar Code and made it permanent. This replaced Stupidity which was in evaluation status.

Introduction to The Return

I have made a FAQ entry which describes my film, The Return.

Rearranging

Today I removed Iraq for Sale and re-arranged a few videos. Iraq for Sale received some criticism from viewers and I found that almost no one clicked through to watch it. Also, I think other videos can treat the war more comprehensively. I replaced Iraq for Sale with The Israel Lobby, a great suggestion made by a recent visitor from Montréal. Thanks Thomas!

The biggest move was taking Overview of America from #14 to #3. I would have it as #1 if it didn't have a propaganda tone to it. Always have your propaganda filter on. It's just too good to exclude it based upon that. I wish JBS would stop doing that, otherwise their stuff is pretty good.

I split the double feature of Money as Debt and Money Masters into separate screens. They are a good combo but having Money Masters at #2 is too early. It has a fear-promoting conspiratorial tone which undermines the value of the information at times. I think having it as #2 just may turn people off. Great stuff in there but you have to have your conspiratorial filter on for Money Masters.

Don't get me wrong, conspiracy or not, I don't like fear-mongering or propaganda. I'm looking for sober assessments of our current situation. Still, sometimes the information is so good you have to let it slide.

Dumbing Down of America

I'm looking for the best documentary on the subject of the deliberate dumbing down of America. John Taylor Gatto is the best I've come up with so far but I've found only short videos and interviews. If you know of a documentary on this subject please let me know.

John Taylor Gatto has a book called Dumbing Us Down: the Hidden Curriculum of Compulsory Schooling.

"No one in America today is better qualified to report on the true condition of our government education system than John Taylor Gatto, the now-famous educator who spent 26 years teaching in six different schools in New York City and quit because he could no longer take part in a system that destroys lives by destroying minds"

Gatto is featured in a short 30 minute video called Classroom of The Heart. In interviews Gatto goes much deeper. I'd like to find something that combines examples of his practical teaching ideas with more theory and evidence of the political and historical origins of Dumbing Us Down.

Sibel Edmonds Kill The Messenger

I removed #10, Kill The Mesenger because the video was getting hard to find online. Evidently there are copyright issues. I wish it was available because Sibel's story needs to get out to more people. Here is the trailer. Here is an update interview put online June 2007.

I will be adding a new video #10 shortly.

Things are changing!

I should be finished with the transition today. Hang in there.
